THREE ARRESTED FOR TENNCARE PRESCRIPTION FRAUD IN GRUNDY CO.

NASHVILLE, TN –  Three people from Grundy County have been charged with TennCare fraud. The Office of Inspector General today announced the arrests of a man and woman from Beersheba Springs and a 63-year-old woman from Coalmon, all in Grundy County.

The OIG, with help from the 12th Judicial Drug Task Force and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Larry Hill, 36 and Brandy Braden, 29, of Beersheba Springs. They were charged with one count each of TennCare fraud for obtaining or attempting to obtain a controlled substance to be paid for by TennCare. 

In an unrelated case, Betty Nunley, 63, of Coalmon, was also charged with fraudulently obtaining or attempting to obtain controlled substance to be paid for by TennCare.

The charges against the three are class E felonies punishable with up to two years in prison.

“The fraudulent use of TennCare pharmacy benefits is a serious problem in local communities, but we continue to work hard to investigate, arrest and prosecute for these crimes,” Inspector General Deborah Y. Faulkner said.  “We truly appreciate the providers and the local pharmacies reporting this activity, which goes a long way in helping fight this problem.”
