Office for Information ResourcesInformation Technology PlanningMissionOur Mission: To enable our customers to meet their business objectives by promoting business and information systems planning. Our Vision: To lead the State of Tennessee in excellence in information systems planning. State agencies participate in an information technology planning process to promote the use of technology to improve public services, permit the statewide coordination of technology initiatives, and to ensure adherence to the State's information systems architecture. This process facilitates dialogue among operating agencies, the Division of Budget, and the Office for Information Resources (OIR). In accordance with Policy 7, an Information Systems Plan (ISP) is prepared annually by each State agency including departments, boards, and commissions. The ISP outlines the agency's technology strategy, identifies major information resource management issues facing the agency and presents planned information technology projects, describing the initiative, objectives, costs and benefits. The plans cover a three-year planning period and are submitted to the Office for Information Resources (OIR) for review. The IT-ABC provides the formal review process over the State's information systems planning activities. The Committee is comprised of Director level staff from functional areas within the Department of Finance and Administration's Office for Information Resources and the Budget Division. Projects that are initiated within the current year, but were not included in the annual plan, must also be presented for review. A Statewide Information Systems Plan is developed annually based upon the individual plans. |
