The Division serves to develop the State´s capital initiatives and real property assets for the benefit of the citizens of Tennessee.
Real Property Administration (RPA) is the implementation arm of the State Building Commission (SBC). It is responsible for all capital improvements including major renovations, new construction, and building design that includes energy efficiency and sustainability. The Division operates under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner Peter L. Heimbach, with Bob Oglesby serving as State Architect and Chief Staff Officer to the SBC.
RPA recently completed this state-of-the-art Regional Consolidated Facility in Knoxville in conjuction with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. This 40,000 square foot facility was developed to serve the needs of law enforcement agencies operating within the eastern region of the State. It is comprised of a Forensic laboratory division which performs tests on crime evidence, including examination on Drugs, Breath Alcohol, Firearms, Toxicology, DNA and Serology and an Investigative division which performs crime scene investigations at the request of local District Attorneys.
