Documentary to Air Thursday, March 30, 8 P.M. CST

3/29/2006

The Tennessee Residence…Memories of the Past, Visions of the Future, a 60-minute documentary about the history of Tennessee’s Executive Residence, will air on Nashville Public Television (NPT) on Thursday, March 30 at 8 p.m. (CST).

“I’m so pleased Nashville Public Television is taking the opportunity to share this moving portrayal of the history of our state’s Executive Residence with their viewers,” said First Lady of Tennessee Andrea Conte, who spearheaded the making of the documentary with the Tennessee Arts Commission and filmmakers Loree Gold and Jane Pittman.

In their work to raise awareness and funding for the Restoration and Preservation of The Tennessee Residence, Governor Bredesen and First Lady Conte sat down with each of the former first families who have lived in The Tennessee Residence to hear their stories about the time they spent in the home.

“What we heard were these fascinating stories about the important role The Tennessee Residence has played in our state’s history, as well as in the lives of the families who’ve had the opportunity to call it ‘home,’” said Conte. “We felt this documentary was the best way to capture those stories so they could be shared with generations to come.”

The project was a partnership between the Tennessee Arts Commission and the First Lady’s office, and was coordinated through the Nashville Film Festival. Plans call for the documentary to be aired on public television stations across the state. It has already been shown in East Tennessee, and will air in West Tennessee in coming months.
