First Lady Conte Leads Walk for Nashville Child Advocacy Center

Tennessee First Lady Andrea Conte will lead an “AndreaWalks II” event Saturday, April 22, to support the Nashville Child Advocacy Center. Conte is leading a series of walk events during Child Abuse Prevention Month to raise awareness about child abuse prevention and to raise funds for Child Advocacy Centers that provide support programs for child abuse victims and their families.

In 2004, Andrea Conte, a longtime advocate for victims’ rights issues, launched a statewide initiative to raise awareness about child sexual abuse and to raise much-needed funds for Child Advocacy Centers. Through this initiative, the First Lady walked more than 600 miles between all of the Child Advocacy Centers across the state and raised approximately $1.4 million in cash and in-kind donations for these organizations.

Conte will bring “AndreaWalks” back to Nashville on Saturday, April 22. The 5K walk will take place at the scenic Edwin Warner Park. Interested walkers should enter the park through the Vaughn’s Gap Road entrance (off of Old Hickory Boulevard) and follow the signs to the walk location. On-site registration begins at 8 a.m., a kick-off program will begin at 8:45 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m. Registration is $35 for adults, $15 for teens between the ages of 13 and 18, and children 12 and under may join the walk for free. Reduced rates are available for families. All proceeds will benefit the Nashville Child Advocacy Center.

Additional “AndreaWalks II” events will take place in Fayetteville, Murfreesboro and Tullahoma during the month of April. Interested participants in these locations may contact their local Child Advocacy Center for more information or to register.
