The First Lady is firmly committed to raising awareness of the need to help the youngest crime victims?children. A key part of that effort is pushing for more child advocacy centers across Tennessee.
Child advocacy centers are nonprofit facilities that provide a warm, caring and nurturing environment for children who have been victims of physical or sexual abuse. The centers serve a dual role: They help law-enforcement officials conduct investigations into child abuse while providing much-needed counseling and support to children who have been robbed of their innocence. The First Lady believes that every child in Tennessee who needs these services should have access to a child advocacy center.
