MAINTENANCE

The Motor Vehicle Management maintenance facility is located at 2200 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37243. This facility performs minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and emission testing for any vehicle or piece of equipment.

This facility has a full service car wash available for all state-owned vehicles. It is located adjacent to the maintenance facility.

A wrecker service is available to transport vehicles and equipment that are inoperable. It is also available to transport new and used equipment to state facilities that are not able to make pick up and delivery.

ACCIDENTS/VANDALISM

This section oversees the repairs of approximately 800 damaged vehicles annually, and manages all aspects of accidents, storm damages and vandalism. This process includes reviewing estimates, preparing purchase orders, determining fault, and deciding which path to take to recoup funds. Constant contact is maintained with state agencies, vendors, private citizens and insurance company representatives to arrive at the most amicable solution. Invoices are processed for the repair of body damage and forwarded to the Office of Financial Management for payment. The Internal Audit Division is notified when vandalism is reported and proper documents are processed to the Division of Claims Administration when the state vehicle operator is at fault.

DISPOSAL

The disposal section of Motor Vehicle Management prepares all vehicles and equipment for removal from state service. This includes responsibilities such as removing license plates, decals, spotlights, and updating information records in the FleetTracker system.

Motor Vehicle Management is responsible for staying in compliance with rules and regulations put in place by the office of Homeland Security.

This section also evaluates the condition of each unit and prices it at a fair market value, prepares pertinent paperwork, and sends it to the division of Property Utilization for disposal.

To obtain information regarding the purchase of surplused vehicles and equipment, contact the Department of General Services, Property Utilization Division at (615) 350-3373.
