Incoming Mail

The Incoming Mailroom of State Postal Services began operation in November 1972 with 3 cargo vans and 50 stops for mail pick-up and delivery. The Unit has grown with state government and currently utilizes 13 cargo vans to provide service to 718 pick-up points per day. Service is extended to a 38 mile radius of the State Capitol.

The U.S. Postal Service dispatches state mail to the Central Mailroom at 5:30 AM, 8:30 AM and 11:50 AM. Carriers sort and deliver both U.S. Mail and internal messenger mail on a fixed schedule. State departments and its agencies receive mail services Monday thru Friday; frequency of service ranges from 1-5 times per day, depending on need and volume.
