Refugee Services

Tennessee 's Refugee Social Services (RSS) program receives funding from the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). The RSS Program is administered through contracts with local refugee social service agencies in communities across the state resettling newly-arriving political refugees.

Services are currently available in Memphis , Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.

The primary goal of the program is to assist refugees to become employed and economically self-sufficient as soon after their arrival as possible. Program activities include: English language training, social adjustment activities, and employment programs. The program is limited to political refugees authorized for permanent residency in the United States. Other immigrant populations are not eligible for the Refugee program.
