The committee is charged with assisting the Governor and the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) in conducting a comprehensive review of the state's child care system.
"In taking the approach of conducting a top-to-bottom review of child care in Tennessee, we believe that we can make the important changes that are needed to make Tennessee's child care program a national model," state Human Services Commissioner Natasha Metcalf said.
DHS is the agency that approves licenses for child care providers.
