GOVERNOR'S CHILD CARE COMMITTEE

NASHVILLE— The first meeting of Governor Don Sundquist's Legislative Committee on Child Care has been scheduled for:

Wednesday, January 12, 2000
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Legislative Plaza, Suite #1 Conference Room

The committee is charged with assisting the Governor and the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) in conducting a comprehensive review of the state's child care system.

"In taking the approach of conducting a top-to-bottom review of child care in Tennessee, we believe that we can make the important changes that are needed to make Tennessee's child care program a national model," state Human Services Commissioner Natasha Metcalf said.

DHS is the agency that approves licenses for child care providers.
