NEW TENNESSEE CAREER CENTER TO OPEN IN ALCOA
More services will be offered at one location

NASHVILLE -Job seekers and employers will soon have one convenient location for career services at the Tennessee Career Center Blount County. The center will open Tuesday, September 7, and be located at 366 Glascock Street in Alcoa. The center is currently located at 1012 Middlesettlements Road at the Pellissippi State Community College/Blount County Campus. The new center will also house the offices of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, which is currently located at 220 Court Street, in Maryville.

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the East Tennessee Human Resource Agency, Roane State Community College, and Adult Education are partners in the center. The center offers assistance for both job seekers and employers. "In the past, employment efforts have been too scattered at various locations. Now these services will be offered at one central place to meet the employment needs of the area," said Labor Commissioner James Neeley. "We are proud the partners have come together to make things easier for both employers and job seekers."

Job seekers are offered career workshops on résumé writing, interviewing skills, and more. The center also provides free use of computers, fax machines and phones for job search. The office of Adult Education will also offer computer and math classes and GED assistance. Unemployment insurance claims also may be filed at the new center.

Employers may use the Career Center to recruit qualified employees, to have staff prescreen and test potential employees, and to hold job fairs.

The Tennessee Career Center Blount County at 1012 Middlesettlements Road will close Wednesday, September 1, and the Department of Labor and Workforce Development office at 220 Court Street in Maryville will close Thursday, September 2, for the move to the new location. The new location hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

For more information, call the Labor and Workforce Development Office at (865) 981-2341 or the Career Center in Maryville at (865) 983-6365.
