Vets Guide 2007

Tennessee's veteran population is approximately one half million. Annually, our local offices provide some type of service to more than 31,000 veterans. All U.S. military veterans are eligible for job referral and referral to training programs through the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development offices (TDLWD).

TDLWD offices serve as an outreach to veterans and insure veterans' preference in referral to jobs and other services. Employment-related testing, training information, skills assessment, referral, and case management are among the services provided.

While these services are important to veterans, they are especially important to the employer who is seeking a job applicant with experience and good work skills. Our local veterans staff specializes in matching employer needs with veterans making the transition from military to civilian work. This one-on-one approach helps insure a better job match for the employer.

Remember, when you hire a veteran you get experience, good work skills, and a disciplined employee who has been a responsible military employee.
