The Tennessee Advanced School On Addiction, The Summit has no scholarship funds of it its own. However, it does assist in the administration of the following scholarships: full scholarships through the Oliver Slaton Woollard, Jr. Foundation that cover tuition and the room-meal plan, but not the travel.

Oliver Slaton Woollard, Jr. Foundation Scholarships

The Oliver Slaton Woollard, Jr. Foundation scholarships are supported by Oliver Slaton Woollard, Jr.: each full scholarship covers tuition and the room/meal plan. Scholarship applications must be received by the end of the business day on May 15, 2007. Each applicant must send the following information: (1) a completed TASA general application form (found at the end of the TASA brochure); (2) a letter from the candidate stating that he/she is applying for the Oliver Slaton Woollard, Jr. Foundation Scholarship and describing his/her background and work in the field; and (3) a letter of recommendation that addresses the candidate’s attributes and role in the field. Please note: (1) candidates who have not previously attended TASA, The Summit will receive priority consideration by the Scholarship Committee; and (2) persons who are working towards licensure in the addictions field will receive priority.

The requirements listed below must be fulfilled for the packet to be reviewed by the Oliver Slaton Woollard, Jr. Foundation Scholarship Committee. The letter of application should describe how the person meets these scholarship requirements. Candidates must:

Be certified as an alcoholism/drug abuse counselor or be in the process of attaining certification. Documentation of hours toward certification received to date should be included in the packet.

Work full- or part-time, presently or in the recent past, in the alcohol/drug field with: family and children of an alcoholic; parents who are misusing alcohol/or other drugs; gay/lesbian patients; and/or the handicapped.

Be actively involved with community groups, local industry, school systems, and/or other volunteer programs. Volunteer involvement should be described in detail.

Submit a statement verifying that your annual salary is less than $30,000 per year.
