Training and Education Services

Training and Education Services is responsible for providing an educational forum for all professionals associated with the prevention, intervention, and treatment of alcohol and drug abuse. A goal is to provide opportunities for all alcohol and drug services professionals to advance their knowledge, skills, and values in their fields of practice.

These services are coordinated by the Division's State A&D Training Coordinator. Additionally, there are six full-time regional training coordinators located across the state. The regional training coordinators’ responsibility is to assess the need for alcohol and drug training specific to their region and to coordinate and provide such training.

A major training and educational initiative of the Division is the annual alcohol and drug school, The Summit. Each year The Summit, Tennessee Advanced School on Addictions (TASA) provides state-of-the-art and cutting-edge training in prevention, intervention, and treatment from nationally recognized experts. The Summit has enjoyed great success and each year is highly anticipated.
