Treatment Services and Program Design
Treatment Services and Program Design
is responsible for
planning, developing, administering, and evaluating a statewide system of
services for the treatment of persons whose use of alcohol and/or other
drugs has resulted in patterns of abuse or addiction. Goals of Treatment Services and Program Design
include providing a continuum of care which is available, accessible, and
responsive to all Tennesseans needing treatment. An effective continuum of
care must include outreach, early identification and intervention,
assessment, placement and movement within appropriate levels of treatment,
and aftercare and support services within the recovery phase.

Division-funded treatment services are provided
through contracts with community based organizations. All contracted
providers must be chartered as not-for-profit organizations or be a local
government entity and be licensed by the Tennessee Department of Health to
deliver specific levels of alcohol and drug treatment services. Division
funding is primarily targeted to providing services to persons with no other
means of paying for treatment. Division funding is also made available to
support substance abuse services to targeted populations with special needs
including pregnant women, women with dependent children, adolescents, and
persons at risk for or infected with HIV.
Division contracted treatment services and
programs include:
- Adolescent Residential Treatment
- Adolescent Day Treatment
- Halfway House
- HIV/AIDS Outreach
- Life Development Program
- Medical Detoxification
- Outpatient Services
- Pregnant Substance Abusers
- Residential Rehabilitation
- Social Setting (Non-Medical)
Detoxification
- Women’s Intensive Outpatient Services
