National Mental Health Association Takes New Name
The National Mental Health Association has adopted a new name: Mental
Health America
Along with the name change, the organization has announced
a new vision for mental wellness in the United States: According to a
press release, Mental Health America is re-dedicated to improving the
health and well-being of all people - especially children and adults living
with mental health and substance use problems - by helping them live mentally
healthier lives.

National Anti-Stigma campaign Launched by SAMHSA
A national public service advertising campaign designed to decrease the
public’s negative attitudes about people with mental illnesses was
launched on December 4, 2006. The campaign, sponsored by the Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in partnership with the
Ad Council, is targeted toward young adults and will encourage them to
support their friends who have mental health problems. To see the ads,
