    The State of Tennessee, Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (DMHDD) is currently recruiting for a highly qualified person to be the Administrative Services Assistant Superintendent.

    The position would

    Plan, organize and direct hospital administrative support services and functions.
    Direct the assignment, training, supervision and evaluation of a relatively complex staff and organizational functions including accounting, beauty and barbering, budgeting, communications, data processing, dietary, duplicating, financial analysis, housekeeping, laundry, mail, patient accounts, payroll, procurement, property, personnel, pharmacy, building and grounds maintenance, heating and ventilation, safety, security, standards compliance, storekeeping and warehousing, volunteer, and related support services.

    Review and make decisions and recommendations on personnel actions such as employment, retention, promotion, demotion, and other personnel actions.

    Supervise and participate in study of relevant policy and procedure and makes recommendations for change.

    Supervise the enforcement policy and procedures for hospital administrative functions.

    Supervise and participate in the development and maintenance of the operating budget for all site operations which involve significant responsibility for financial assets as well as for physical plant assets.

    Participate in responsible personal contact work with all levels at the site, with higher level staff at other institutions, city, county, and federal government, community agencies and groups, central office staff, and officials in other state departments. May handle difficult personal contacts and liaison work.

    Direct the preparation and maintenance of a very large volume of standard records and reports necessary for proper accomplishment of site staff support services.

    Apply managerial and administrative knowledge to complex problems and uses resourcefulness in solving problems in hospital administration.

    Qualifications
    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or other acceptable field and experience equivalent to substantial (five or more years of) increasingly responsible full-time professional administrative services related experience including, at least, two years in a hospital or comparable setting; additional graduate coursework in hospital administration, public or business administration or other related acceptable field may be substituted for the required non-specialized experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years.

    Preferred Experience
    Experience in administering hospital/mental health operations
