The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities is currently seeking applicants for the position of Physician-Psychiatrist in the Knoxville area. DMHDD serves as the Tennessee’s mental health and developmental disabilities authority and is charged with planning for and promoting an array of services from prevention and early intervention to resiliency and recovery. DMHDD operates five regional mental health institutes, contracts with mental health agencies across the state to offer community services, and provides policy, programmatic and quality oversight to the TennCare Partners program that provides an array of behavioral health and substance abuse services to eligible persons through a specialized managed care organization, known as a behavioral health organization (BHO). DMHDD seeks an experienced Physician-Psychiatrist who can provide a variety of professional psychiatric medical services to residents of a mental health facility; interviews prospective residents and families and makes decisions on admissions; diagnoses mental, emotional and behavioral disorders and prescribes treatment program; makes routine rounds of residents to follow up on treatment; provides treatment in medical emergencies. Chairs or participates in treatment team meetings with nurse, social workers, psychologists or other staff to devise, review or alter the treatment plans of individual residents. Develops, coordinates and enforces relevant service policies and procedures.
