Volunteer Services

Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute welcomes volunteer participation in its treatment program or in administrative services. Tours of the facility also are provided. Information is available from the Coordinator of Volunteer Services at 423-785-3334.

Religious Groups:
A Community Connection

Patient care at Moccasin Bend touches the whole person: body, mind and spirit. One way the hospital addresses spiritual needs is by fostering connections among patients, families and religious groups in the home community. Through the Pastoral Services Department, members and leaders of local religious groups come to Moccasin Bend to visit patients and assist in various religious and spiritual programs.

The primary way the hospital addresses patients' immediate spiritual needs is by providing a Chaplain for pastoral care and counseling. The Chaplain also is available for consultation with families and religious groups. Making connections among the patient, the hospital and community religious groups not only enhances patient care, it helps alleviate the stigma of mental illness and discrimination against the mentally ill.
