MENTAL HEALTH AND AGING SEMINAR

Nashville, TN The Middle Tennessee Mental Health and Aging Coalition will be presenting a seminar, funded in part by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, on "Mental Health and Aging," Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at the Metro Nashville Public Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Topics for the seminar include: "Current Psychiatric Issues in Mental Health and Aging," "Ethics, Mental Health and Aging" and "Positive Mental Health in Late Life." Speakers include William Petrie, M.D., Psychiatric Consultants, Nashville, TN; the Rev. Monsignor Charles Fahey, expert on ethics and aging issues, Professor Emeritus, Fordham University; and Walter Bortz II, M.D., internationally known geriatrician, Stanford University.

The Middle Tennessee Mental Health and Aging Coalition was founded in April 2002. It is an organization of professionals, consumers, family members, public and private organizations and interested individuals. Coalition members work together toward improving the availability, accessibility and quality of mental health prevention and treatment services for older adults and their families through education, advocacy, research and increased public awareness.
