The Future Tennessee Mental Health System

The purpose of this project is for the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (TDMHDD) and other stakeholders to develop a shared vision for mental health service delivery in Tennessee. This vision will be accomplished using the planning process set forth in TCA 11-1-401 et seq. and 33-2-202 et seq. to promote informed participation of stakeholders across the state in this process.

The successful outcome of this effort will be one or more broadly supported delivery system design possibilities. This will include functions of various parties involved, actual service types to be provided, cost estimates and quality indictors.

Goals of this effort are to:

  • Educate stakeholders to allow for informed decision making in the process.
  • Develop priorities of values for the system.
  • Develop outcomes for the system.
  • Develop consensus about one or more structural models that support these values and outcomes.
