Forensic ServicesSERVICES IN THE MAXIMUM SECURITY UNIT The Forensic Services Program (FSP), at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute in Nashville, is the only maximum security mental health facility in Tennessee. FSP provides evaluation and treatment to defendants who cannot be managed safely in a Regional Mental Health Institute or individuals in the custody of the Department of Correction (DOC) who need treatment available in TDMHDD that is not available in DOC. FSP provides both pre-trial and post adjudication evaluation and treatment. Admissions to this facility occur only under T.C.A. Section 33-7-301 and –303 or transfers under Title 33, Chapter 3, Part 3 from Regional Mental Health Institutes. FSP has thirty beds and provides evaluation and treatment to defendants who cannot be managed safely in a Regional Mental Health Institute (RMHI), or individuals in the custody of the department of Corrections (DOC) who need treatment available in TDMHDD that is not available in DOC.
