OCA Responsibilities

The Office of Consumer Affairs plays a crucial role for service recipients and consumers in all facets of the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (TDMHDD), with responsibilities for:

  • Promoting the interests of service recipients;
  • Providing direct assistance to recipients through its Ombudsman program, and
  • Providing the tools for consumers to advocate for themselves through training opportunities and the promotion of self-help programs.
