The Office of Planning coordinates TDMHDD planning activities and responsibilities, including the development of:
- TDMHDD Three Year Plan, required by Title 33, Tennessee Code Annotated;
- Annual Strategic Plan, required by Part 56, Chapter 4, Title 9, TCA,

The Planning Office coordinates the annual assessment of the public's need for mental health / developmental disability services and supports required by TDMHDD law.
Staff provides support and coordination of:
- TDMHDD Planning and Policy Council
- TDMHDD Regional Planning and Policy Councils
