Overview
Councils play a key role in advising TDMHDD. They provide information and advice on policy, the formulation of budget requests, and the development and evaluation of services and supports.
Title 33 of the Tennessee Code Annotated (mental health and developmental disability law) requires a structured planning process with three layers of council participation:
These councils provide citizen participation in policy planning and represent service recipients and their families, service recipient advocates for children, adults and the elderly, service providers, agencies and other affected persons and organizations. All three levels require majority of membership to be current or former service recipients and members of service recipient families.
Persons interested in serving on any of the councils should send their curriculum vitae to: Vicki.Pillow@state.tn.us
