Presentation objectives:
Contrast and compare treatment models for co-occurring disorders from moral and asylum models to current scientific evidence based models of treatment.
Become familiar with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) paradigm and strength-based approach.
Review evidenced based treatments and withdrawal/detox guidelines.
About the Presenter, Alan Lynch, M.D.
Dr. Lynch is the Chief Medical Officer for the Mental Health Cooperative, Inc., Nashville, TN. He is also the Clinical Assistant of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. Dr. Lynch received his doctorate in Medicine from the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas, and completed his Residency training and Addiction Psychiatry training at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
