Your Rights for Community Living

Fair Housing imageThe Fair Housing Act guarantees everyone the right to choice in housing.

You can live anywhere that you can afford without regard to your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, family status or disability.

The Fair Housing Act makes it illegal for anyone, including a landlord, his employees, your neighbors, or even strangers, to threaten, harass, intimidate or engage in acts of violence against you because of where you choose to live.

The law also protects your family, friends and visitors from this kind of behavior, regardless of where it occurs.

If such conduct does occur, report the act to one of the following government agencies or local law enforcement officials.Equal Housing in Tennessee
