TCAD Director Jim Shulman presents the 2016 Tennessee Senior Brain Games championship trophy to the Jonesborough Olde Towners.

This year marked the 4th Annual Tennessee Senior Brain Games state competition, a series of games organized and supported by the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability (TCAD), Tennessee’s nine Area Agencies on Aging and Disability (AAAD), and senior centers throughout the state.

The championship game was hosted Friday, October 7 in Morristown, Tennessee. The Morristown champions, the Morristown Senior Gamers, defended their previous year’s win against East Tennessee’s Jonesborough Olde Towners, Middle Tennessee’s St. Clair Street Mind Benders, and West Tennessee’s Chester County Challengers.

The win went to the Jonesborough Olde Towners!

On Thursday, November 10, 2016, TCAD Director Jim Shulman, TCAD Director of Communications & Legislative Affairs Ryan Ellis, and Aging Commission Liaison Anna Lea Cothron traveled to Jonesborough to present the Jonesborough Olde Towners—Joe Allison, Carol Salinas, Mike Willis, and Nancy Weaver (along with Director Mary Sanger)—with the championship trophy and $1000 for their senior center. The trophy will call Jonesborough “home” until October 2017, at which point the Olde Towners will themselves defend against three teams from each of Tennessee’s three grand divisions.

So mark your calendars: We’re heading to Jonesborough, Tennessee in October 2017. You’re all invited!
