Eric Crafton Appointed to THRC Board of Commissioners

Lieutenant (Lt.) Governor, Ron Ramsey has appointed Eric Crafton of Nashville to the Tennessee Human Rights Commission (THRC). On February 2015, Lt. Governor Ramsey confirmed Crafton’s appointment to the THRC as a Representative of the Middle Grand Division. Commissioner Crafton will serve a term from March 2015 until June 2017. He will attend his first THRC Board of Commissioners meeting on March 20, 2015.

Crafton has been a general contractor and realtor since 1996. He served as the 22nd District’s Nashville Metro Councilman from 1995-1999 and from 2003-2011; former Vice Chair of the Convention and Tourism Committee; on the Historical Committee, Parks, Library, Recreation, and Entertainment Facility Committee, and the Public Works Committee. Crafton graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math/ Economics from Vanderbilt University and studied Japanese and Political Economy from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War.

The Commission’s role is to enforce and prohibit discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation based on race, creed, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age (40 and over in employment), familial status (housing only) and retaliation in employment, housing and public accommodations.
