July 1, 2012 - Public Chapter 821 - Consumer Protection with Roofing Contracts
Consumers will have the right to cancel a roofing contract within three (3) days after a claim is denied by the insurance company. Roofing contractors whose work is covered by insurance will need to include specific language in their contracts to this effect. A roofer would not need a separate license with the Insurance Division unless they want to also do business as a “Public Adjuster” as defined by T.C.A. § 56-6-902. Note: See amendment of HB0480 in 2013 updates of legislation.
