Updates to the Tennessee Cosmetology Act!
The Tennessee General Assembly has recently made changes to the Tennessee Cosmetology Act, which will take effect July 1, 2013. These new laws can be found here.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WHILE THESE NEW LAWS GO INTO EFFECT JULY 1st, THE BOARD OF COSMETOLOGY MUST FIRST MAKE RULES TO CARRY OUT THE NEW LAWS.
The rule making process requires that the Board office draft rules, which must then be approved through a formal rule making hearing. After the rule making hearing, the rules must be approved by the Attorney General’s Office and, subsequently, be on file with the Secretary of State’s office for 90 days before they are effective. Until this rule making process is completed, the newly enacted laws cannot be fully administered.
