
Major John Eldridge joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol in 1975 as a Road Trooper in the Nashville District. A native of Crossville, Tennessee, and a graduate of the Northwestern University Police Staff and Command School, he served as a Special Operations Trooper for three years before returning to Cumberland County as a Road Trooper.
In 1987, Eldridge was promoted to Safety Education Sergeant for the Cookeville District. In 1990, he was promoted to Administrative Lieutenant and served in that post for seven years before returning to Safety Education. Eldridge was appointed Captain of the Cookeville District in 2003 and served in that capacity until his current appointment to the post of Major in August of 2006.
