Lt. Colonel Tracy Trott has served as a member of the Tennessee Highway Patrol since 1978. His experience includes operations management of Troopers in several counties, as well as the day-to-day activities of law enforcement. Prior to becoming Lt. Colonel in August of 2006, he had served as Major in the Colonel's Office.
A native of Maine, Trott came to Tennessee to attend East Tennessee State University. He earned a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and also holds a masters degree in Criminology from ETSU. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staffing and Command. His first THP assignment was as a Road Trooper in Greene and Carter Counties in the Fall Branch District. He later became Enforcement Sergeant for Greene and Sullivan Counties. In both 1983 and 1984, he was one of the top 10 Troopers in DUI enforcement in the state. He is also certified as a Police Instructor by the POST Commission, and has taught numerous classes to other law enforcement officers.
Lt. Colonel Trott is married and has two children.
