Fallen Heroes Memorial Remembrance Friday

 

Nashville, Tennessee --- Tennessee Highway Patrol Lieutenant Colonel Danny Wilson will join United States Representative Steve Cohen, law enforcement officers, emergency responders and other dignitaries in Memphis on May 9, 2008, to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.  The Fourth Annual Fallen Heroes Memorial Service will be held at the Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

                County Mayor AC Wharton, DeSoto County EMS Chief Bobby Storey
                and other dignitaries.

The Fallen Heroes Monument at Memorial Park Cemetery holds the names of 135 individuals, dating back to 1865, who have lost their lives while serving and defending their community.  This year Jeffery Jeans’ name was added to the memorial.  Jeans was a member of the Eudora Fire Department in DeSoto County, MS, and was killed May 11, 2007.

The Tennessee Department of Safety’s mission is (www.tennessee.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public.  The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
