The Professional Standards Bureau consists of the Office of Professional Responsibility Unit and the Staff Inspection Unit.

Filing a Compliment/Complaint
The Tennessee Department of Safety's policy is to investigate all complaints against the Department or its employees. Additionally, all compliments will be filed in the employee's file, and notification made to the employee that a compliment has been received.

Citizen Complaint Form
Use this form to file a complaint against a member of the Department of Safety. You can mail the form to the director of the Professional Standards Bureau at 1148 Foster Avenue, Nashville, TN 37243-1000, or fax it to (615) 532-9310.

The Professional Standards Bureau is charged with managing the investigative and disciplinary processes for the Department of Safety. The primary mission of the Professional Standards Bureau is to assure that employees of the Department meet the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical performance. The bureau reports directly to the commissioner.
