AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 6-54-120, relative to certification of municipal clerks and recorders.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 6-54-120, is amended by adding the following at the end of subsection (a):

Provided, however, a municipality shall have four (4) years to ensure that any officer or employee responsible for exercising any of the duties of municipal clerk or recorder and who was hired after July 1, 1994, meets those qualifications.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
