AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 5-6-116; Section 5-6-117 and Section 5-6-118, relative to employment of staff assistants by county executives.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 5-6-116, is amended by deleting the language of the section in its entirety and substituting instead the following:

The county executive for each county may employ one (1) or more clerical assistants as may be necessary for the performance of the county executive's official duties. The county executive shall establish the compensation of any such assistant within the amount appropriated for such purpose by the county legislative body.

SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 5-6-117, is amended by deleting the section in its entirety.

SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 5-6-118, is amended by deleting the section in its entirety.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
