AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-2-201, relative to the number of members of county boards of education.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-2-201(a)(1), is amended by deleting the third and fourth sentences thereof and substituting the following:

In addition to the membership existing on boards as of January 1, 1992, or January 1, 1993, the General Assembly may authorize by private act any number of school board members which is not less than three (3) nor more than ten (10).

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
