AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-5-5605, relative to teacher proficiency tests.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-5-5605(a), is amended by deleting the first sentence in its entirety and by substituting instead the following:

All students desiring a license to teach must pass both a test that measures professional knowledge and a standardized or criterion-referenced test for each desired area of endorsement.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
