AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 62, Chapter 6, relative to contractors.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 62-6-102(3)(A), is amended by deleting the last sentence in its entirety and by substituting instead the following language:

"Contractor" includes, but is not limited to, a prime contractor, electrical contractor, electrical subcontractor, mechanical contractor, mechanical subcontractor, plumbing contractor, and plumbing subcontractor. If the cost of a project exceeds twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000), such term also includes a construction manager of any kind, including, but not limited to, a residential construction manager, construction consultant, architect, and/or engineer who conducts or provides any activity or service described herein other than normal architectural or engineering services.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
