AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 16, Chapter 15, Part 50, relative to jurisdiction, compensation and qualifications of Judges of the General Sessions Court.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 16-15-5003(c), is amended by adding the following as a new subdivision (3):

(3) Upon adoption of a resolution by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the County Legislative Body, in addition to the base salary and additional supplements stated hereinabove, any Class 4, 5 or 6 judge who is required to exercise the duties and powers set forth in § 33-6-103 regarding the emergency custody and hospitalization of persons believed to be mentally ill, due to a mental hospital or treatment source being located in the county where the judge presides, such judge shall receive an additional annual supplement of five thousand dollars ($5,000), which may be in excess of the twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) limitation on supplements set forth in subdivision (2) hereinabove.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.

Pursuant to Article III, Section 18, of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee, the Governor had House Bill No. 1016 in his possession longer than ten (10) days, so therefore the bill becomes law without the Governor's signature.
