AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, Chapter 6, Part 31, relative to assignment of elementary and secondary students.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-3113, is amended by deleting the second sentence which reads as follows:

This section shall apply only to teachers and their dependents who are residents of the State of Tennessee.

SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, 49-6-3113, is amended by adding the following new sentence:

The provisions of this section are subject to the procedures in §§49-6-3104 and 49-6-3105.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 1997, the public welfare requiring it, and shall apply beginning with the 1997-98 school year.
