RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

The Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations is accepting applications for a Research Associate to focus on fiscal and economic issues affecting local governments in Tennessee. TACIR’s research, evaluations, and technical assistance enable state and local government officials to unravel complex issues and make creative, informed policy and program decisions. Applicants must have a Masters degree in public administration, public policy, or other related area to be considered. The position requires the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Strong research, analytical, quantitative, report writing, and interpersonal skills are required. GIS software skills are strongly preferred. Assignments allow initiative and independence within a focused environment, and work is evaluated by results. Experience with the Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Access, and with the ESRI GIS programs, including Arc View, is desired.

The salary range begins at $35,000 annually; the actual salary is commensurate with experience and education. Applicants must be willing to relocate to Nashville, Tennessee.
