Tennessee Tax Structure Study Commission

      The independent Tax Structure Study Commission was created by an act of the Tennessee General Assembly to do a comprehensive study of the entire system of taxation in Tennessee. The Independent Tax Structure Study Commission is charged with evaluating such system as to its soundness, fairness, equity, and deductibility for all Tennesseans and if deemed necessary, with recommending changes to the tax code in order to encourage and enhance such soundness, fairness, equity and adequacy.

Per the statute that created the Tax Structure Study Commission, its operations cease on its reporting deadline of December 31, 2004. The final report as well as all testimony and minutes are posted at this website.
