Nashville Woman Arrested in TBI Case, Accused of Impersonating Medical Professional

NASHVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit have obtained indictments for a Nashville woman accused of using the medical license number of a woman with a similar name and providing care she wasn’t qualified to perform.

TBI Special Agents began investigating Janet Lonore Kelly, also known as Janet Brown, on February 26th, after receiving information from the Tennessee Department of Health. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Kelly used the Certified Nursing Assistant license number of a woman with a similar name, without that woman’s knowledge, and gained employment at three healthcare and rehabilitation facilities in Nashville.

On December 4th, the Davidson County Grand Jury returned indictments, charging Kelly, 36, with one count of Identity Theft and one count of Impersonation of a Licensed Professional. On Thursday, she was arrested by TBI Agents and officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department and subsequently booked into the Davidson County Jail on $25,000 bond.
