Caretaker Fired, Arrested & Charged in TBI Patient Abuse Case

KNOXVILLE – Special Agents in the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit have arrested a Powell man accused of mistreating a patient in his care.

In March, after receiving information from the Department of Human Services’ Adult Protective Services unit, TBI Special Agents began investigating James Tyler Lambdin. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that on February 24th, Lambdin, while working as a resident aide at Maple Court Senior Living Community in Powell, struck a patient with his fist in the shoulder. The facility reported the incident to authorities, which led to the TBI inquiry, and terminated Lambdin when the allegation surfaced.

On Monday, Agents arrested Lambdin and charged him with one count of Willful Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult. Authorities subsequently booked the 22-year-old into the Knox County Jail, where at the time of this release, he was being held on $10,000 bond.
