HIGHLIGHTS

  • Severe weather has impacted several counties in Tennessee resulting in power outages, debris, and structure damages.
  • The State Emergency Operations Center is activated in Nashville to support statewide severe weather efforts.
  • The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 15 weather-related fatalities.
  • At this time, we have 259 houses with confirmed damage and additional damage assessments are ongoing in many counties.
  • An additional round of severe weather is expected for Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

CURRENT SITUATION

A line of severe storms passed through Tennessee and has caused significant damage to buildings, roads, and utilities in several counties across the state. Damage assessments across the state are ongoing.

SHELTERS

  • Currently there are 3 shelters open to storm survivors.
    • Cannon County: Westside Elementary School, 3714 Murfreesboro Rd, Readyville, TN
    • Tipton County: Covington Sports Plex, 790 Bert Johnston Ave, Covington, TN
    • Wayne County: American Legion Hall, 112 N Main St, Waynesboro, TN

TDOT

  •  TDOT is assisting with debris roadway removal in impacted counties.

TDH

  • The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 15 weather-related fatalities.
    • 9 weather-related fatalities in McNairy County
    • 3 weather-related fatalities in Shelby County
    • 1 weather-related fatality in Roane County
    • 1 weather-related fatality in Tipton County
    • 1 weather-related fatality in Henry County

PROTECTIVE ACTIONS/KEY MESSAGES

  • Do not enter damaged buildings or hazardous locations.
  • Hire only licensed contractors and do not pay the total amount before the work is complete More tips for hiring a contractor are available here.
  • Avoid downed power lines.
  • If your house or property sustained damage, take pictures before cleanup efforts and contact your insurance company.
  • Contact your local emergency management agency if you need immediate assistance.
  • An additional line of severe weather is expected Tuesday, take a moment to review your severe weather plan ahead of time.

·       Nashville: High of 69 degrees and sunny. Low of 54 degrees tonight.

·       Knoxville: High of 66 degrees and sunny. Low of 41 degrees tonight.

·       Chattanooga: High of 71 degrees and mostly sunny. Low of 49 degrees tonight.
