TennCare Proposes Amendment 13

TennCare has recently submitted Amendment 13 to the TennCare waiver. The purpose of Amendment 13 is to enable the State to open up more spaces in the home and community-based portion of the CHOICES program, effective April 1, 2012. Opening up these spaces will permit individuals who require long-term care to continue to have their choice of Nursing Facility care or cost-effective home and community-based care. Without these new spaces, the only choice for new applicants will be Nursing Facility care. For more information, see the public notice.

TennCare Proposes Amendment 14

TennCare is planning to submit two amendments to the TennCare demonstration. Both amendments have a proposed effective date of July 1, 2012.

The first one, Amendment #14, will enable the State to move forward in establishing a new group of people who will receive home and community based services (HCBS) in the CHOICES program, which is the State's program of long-term services and supports for persons who are aged and physically disabled. The new group, called "CHOICES 3," has not previously been open but is intended for persons who are "at risk" for institutional care. For more information, see the public notice.

TennCare Proposes Amendment 15

The second one, Amendment #15, lists the program reductions that would be required if the hospital assessment fee is not renewed for the 2012-2013 State Fiscal Year. This one-year fee has been authorized twice, in 2010 and again in 2011, and if it is authorized again, these program reductions will not be needed. For more information, see the public notice.
