    [Nashville, TN] - TennCare, the state of Tennessee's Medicaid program, joins in commemorating World Breastfeeding Week by announcing the implementation of enhanced breastfeeding supports for members. This initiative, aimed at promoting maternal health and supporting breastfeeding mothers, is a significant step towards ensuring the well-being of families across the state. The new lactation supports are a part of Governor Lee’s Strong Families Initiative, which is made possible by the additional $300 million in shared savings through the TennCare III waiver.

    Nashville, TN – Today, Congress passed legislation which will end the Medicaid continuous enrollment requirement related to the COVID-19 pandemic on April 1, 2023.   • TennCare Increases Health Care Benefits for Pregnant and Postpartum Women

    Nashville, TN – Beginning April 1st, 2022, the Division of TennCare will officially expand health care benefits for pregnant and postpartum TennCare members.* Health care coverage for women will expand from sixty days to twelve months after pregnancy, which is called “postpartum”. Pregnant and postpartum mothers will also have a comprehensive dental benefit as part of this new coverage.

  • TennCare Study: High Satisfaction and Low Uninsured Rates for Children

    A new study by the Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, found the satisfaction rate among all TennCare recipients held steady at 94 percent, marking the 12th straight year above 90 percent. The Impact of TennCare: A Survey of Recipients, 2020, also showed the percentage of uninsured children in the state remained low at 2.8 percent.
