Challenge
2000 . . .
The
Challenge 2000 report provided a series of performance
goals and objectives for Tennessee Higher Education
during the 1990's. This report was framed around six
goals dealing with improvements in higher education
instruction, research and public service. Each of
these goals had specific, quantified benchmarks for
achievement.
The
Challenge 2000 series of performance reports summarized
the status of various benchmarks of higher education
across the state. The report was presented annually
to the Joint Select Oversight Committee of the General
Assembly. The series of reports were regularly requested
by outside sources such as the Southern Regional Education
Board, other state higher education agencies, and
state legislative assemblies.
